As I gear up for my trip to France, I'm working overtime to cover a bunch of new restaurants cropping up in LA so my editor at LA.com has reviews to release while I'm away. On Friday night, a coterie of my young lady friends accompanied me to two new places called Golden State (on Fairfax) and the WeHo edition of Baby Blues BBQ (where I saw an old college friend!), and helped me evaluate the two very different restaurants.
