Los Angeles Confidential Magazine: LA's Best Eggs Benedict

The best dishes, like many of the best things in life, have fascinating back stories, and eggs benedict is no exception. This brunch menu magnate dates back over a century to when it was invented by a ne'er-do-well named Lemuel Benedict - seriously, that was his name - to combat a ferocious hangover, and since then it has taken on multiple identities as everything from a humble egg dish swimming in hollandaise to the fanciest way to start your Sunday with caviar or lobster on top.

In this LA Confidential article, I cover the history of this delicious dish as well as some of the most inventive iterations of it around Los Angeles, including those at the Hotel Bel-Air, Petrossian, BLD, Aventine and Jar.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go poach some eggs.
